Registered Bord Gais Installers:

• Bord Gais Networks now maintains a Register of Gas Installers, consisting of gas installers
  and service agents, who have completed the required gas installation safety training and
  provide the necessary insurance cover to carry out gas installations to the
  required industry standard.
• When using a non-registered installer or service agent it is not possible for you to determine
  their competency level in relation to gas safety. If you are thinking of using a non-registered
  installer or service agent, I would strongly advise that you check that they hold public
  liability insurance and that they have the necessary qualifications and experience to carry
  out the works in question.

Anger over bottled water scandal:

• The Food Safety Authority of Ireland was under fire last night for failing to tell the public about potentially dangerous contamination in bottled water. The FSAI was criticised after the Irish Independent revealed yesterday that one in 11 bottles of Irish produced water was found to be contaminated in some way, compared with one of every 119 imported brand samples tested. However, the data was not released despite being obtained in December last year because
  there was no health risk, the FSAI claimed last night.
• Despite 7.2pc of all bottled water analysed being in breach of legal or EU guide lines on 'safe'
  limits of bacteria including e-coli, the watchdog said that the industry was informed of the
  findings and steps taken to eliminate any public health risk.

Ireland breaks EU rules on waste water:

• The European Court of Justice has found Ireland is in breach of an EU directive on the provision of waste water treatment plants. Ireland was found guilty of failing to provide secondary waste-water treatment plants in towns with populations more than 15,000, in line with the relevant directive. The court found that Ireland had failed to carry out secondary treatment of waste water at six locations: Bray, Howth, Shanganagh, Letterkenny, Sligo and Tramore.
